The 700 was developed to offer performance comparable to the Nakamichi Model 1000 Tri Tracer, and it has received nearly universal acclaim for its superb qualities. The 700 boasts some impressive features, including a 3-head deck and the advanced transport system of the Model 1000 Tri Tracer, including the constant tension offered by the double gap capstan system. The recording head has a vertical adjustment function to compensate for distortion caused by the gap between the tape and head from inconsistencies in tape production.
